Gotham SWAT Team from 1:48 Airfix British
« on: August 20, 2015, 06:04:02 AM »
Greetings!

Well I tried to post these to the "Arkham City Limits" Facebook page, and they were taken down with no warning - probably for not being the 'official' figures. Which I think is a bit churlish, but anyway I thought others would find this useful.

I am building up some models for the game, I am mainly focusing on the 'Dark Knight' movie side of things. Got a KM Batman and Bane so far, and am now building up some crews for them.

While the official henchmen models are nice, I don't have any yet, but did have some Airfix 1/48 Modern British which looked to be the right size. Good way to test out the game and see if I like it, before I commit too much to their decidedly expensive models. Still need a bit of greenstuff and gap filling.

Yes they are covered in gear and very 'military', but I think they will look like Police with the right paintjob. There have been recent articles about the militarisation of Police forces around the world, and I expect the GCPD would be right at the forefront of this, given the diabolical villains they have to deal with! Grey bits are Wargames Factory survivor bits, an excellent source of bits and pieces.

And a size comparison pic with a KM Batman;

Note that these are the Airfix 'Vehicle Crew' models, and not the Infantry Patrol - there is a significant size difference between the two (despite both being listed as 1/48), with the Infantry Patrol being much smaller and more in line with 28mm models.

I suspect with a different paintjob and more 'casual' heads, I could make some Bane mercs as well!

Hope to get some paint on these soon.

Cheers
The Baron

They looks very nice. Another shot of the shield wearing one would be cool. And the last one (kneeling, have a strange arms position (it may be only in this picture though).
A word for miniatures, scenery and rules compulsive buying ? Zhobbyllness !

Thanks very much. The arms are really tricky on these guys - there are only one 'firing' set, the rest are holding steering wheels, firing mounted weapons and so on. So the arms need to be cut and reposed. I have more variety in arms from the 'Infantry' set, but they are waaay too small for the 'Vehicle Crew' set.

The kneeling guy is using a tactical foregrip, which is why his hand is in an upright position rather than carrying it normally. I want to add a few more bits on his gun actually, maybe a torch or laser sight.

Here's another shot of the shield guy - he has a machine pistol for his main weapon. Still need to sculpt the handle to look padded, and complete the 'curve' so that it is a U shape. Vision slit also needs a tidy up.

Cheers,
The Baron

Great work on these, I can't tell why exactly but the second (standing with weapon down) is my favorite (maybe that man-in-charge feel) . Maybe a riot helmet for shield-guy would make him more police/SWAT and less soldier-ish. You're a great modeller (I saw your 15mm town WIP  :-*) and will make these pieces as good (if not better) as the current Batman ACL miniatures line.

Great looking proxies. They were very likely removed due to not being official models. Sad but that's how it is. I for one think they'll do the job nicely and will fit in perfectly with a good paint application.

These look very good and given the size difference between them and the Wargames Factory survivors I'm pleasantly surprised the WF bits fit in so well.

I have a ton of re-based heroclix for Batman Miniatures game...Arkham city limits would never allow them on the their FB page.
not helping the growth of the game by doing that.
