Rom Zom

Well there's a lot of firsts here so, here goes. First time painting minis in over a year, first zombies ever painted in my life(they find it scary to leave the safety of my own lead mountain), first minis submission here, first time using brown ink, first time painting 'rust' camo pants, and first time using this digi-cam of mine. They look way better in person thanks to my shoddy camera skills. Not too bad for one who has trembling hands. Anyhoo:

First one(Poor Ray rolled a one I'm afraid):

Second one. Mean soccer-mom with rust camo and her favorite pair of curb-stompers(bad roll too I suppose):

And my first scientist, which is a shame really. I painted his face rather well, really capturing the leads' expression with a cocked brow, etc which can't even be seen XD.

I need to work on painting normal skin-tones. Poor scientist's is a bit chalky-looking :?

Not bad! I like the muted blood effect.  It's a nice change from all those you see that look like they still have arterial blood flowing through their carcasses.  One minor suggestion - you might want to hit them up with a bit of clear flat, just to eliminate the shine of any pooled inks.

Looking food so far! :)  A agree with archangel1, about toning down the ink shine.

Are their bases finished in this state, or are you going to do something with them?  I always find the finish on a base can radically change the appearance of a mini!

I agree - I use fine white beach sand for urban minis - painted very dark grey and drybrushed with lighter greys. Kinda tarmac or concrete rubble effect... just a suggestion  ;)

Like the paintjobs, very gruesome  :)

Well done. As with painting, your photo skills will improve with practice. Overall I would say great work for all the "firsts" you accomplished here. 8)

I love the Soccer Mom! Very creepy! Looks like she's right out of
Dawn of the Dead! I wouldn't want to meet her in a dark alley --okay, maybe before she was bitten I would... ;)

Well the look for the flesh was inspired by the newer DotD, and well I was sick of all the zombies with fresh blood on them ;). Bases are empty because I hadn't gotten around to doing them. Will be a generic urban setting. As for muting the shine, I agree, however I currently am without flat varnish. Seems I'm better with painting creatures and other abberations rather than 'cleanish' people >:D.

As for the photography, I'll try normal focusing or something, because that was with the macro function.
