Combining Frostgrave with WFB Empire
« on: January 26, 2016, 08:09:30 PM »
Despite owning plenty of Warhammer Empire models, I've had the strange idea to bring the Empire to Felstad, but using Frostgrave miniatures with Empire heads so that they can better fit the setting (and the cold weather!) aesthetically.  Besides, I thought it would be cool to see some Frostgrave soldiers in Stirland colors (green and yellow).

I think that I will have a Warrior Priest as the wizard.  He would definitely be a Thaumaturge with Heal, Shield, Dispel, Strength, Elemental Hammer, etc.

Perhaps a Witch Hunter could be the Captain; the Cultist Thief miniature could fit the bill after giving him a sword and a torch.

Then I could throw in a couple of Frostgrave cultists with flails for Flagellants.

That's a great idea. Do what I do and relocate Felstad to Mordheim. If you prefer the winter theme, then say it's winter in Mordheim.

A warband of witchhunters fits perfectly into this setting. Moreover, Stirland is very close to Mordheim, so your Stirland troops can be either mercenaries, guides or conscripts.

I support this idea...except green and yellow.  These colours should be kept at arms' length at all times.   lol

For all we know, Felstad is the frozen remains of Wurtbad following the End Times.  Time and space have no meaning in the Realm of Chaos, so Stirland ain't as dead as GW thinks (the rat bastards).

I was thinking of creating more of a gothic horror, winter landscape.  I have the Garden of Morr and Chapel of Sigmar to start me off, along with a ton of snowy trees I picked up in December.  I was going to steal another poster's idea by having bloody treasure markers.  I'll fudge the random encounters so that it's primarily skeletons, zombies, wraiths, vampires, werewolves, etc.  In other words, Sylvaniagrave.  I think the Necromancer's warband will be red and purple.

Regarding using the Frostgrave miniatures, I like the rough look to them, and think it might be more appropriate for an adventuring party rather than the pajamas they normally wear.  I think that with the helmets, slouch caps, and feathers, they may look Empire enough when I'm done.

I also thought about doing some of the soldiers in different schemes.  The basic Infantrymen (with halberds) and Crossbowmen could have the green and yellow scheme.  Perhaps a red Man-at-Arms for a member of the Stirland Scarlet Guard, a green and white Stir River Patrol soldier, and a Ranger who is a Stirland Deathjack.  Maybe the Apprentice could be a Priest of Morr, and I could have some of the different Knightly orders involved too (maybe Empire Knight heads and arms on a Frostgrave Cultist body would do the trick).  A Black Guard of Morr would also be cool, but I only get ten guys.

I've assembled a couple; just a simple head swap.  The Empire heads are slightly larger than the Frostgrave ones (especially with their large feathers!), but I think it looks pretty good, especially for the more rustic Stirlanders.  I'll try to upload some pics over the weekend.
