Light Up Sci Fi Generator

Howdy folks,

I finished up a sci fi generator for my 40k terrain project. This was made from the funly barrel of one of my son's plastic toy laser guns. I promised him a new Nerf gun if he let me cut it up and use it. He also helped me pick out the LED light that went into it. It's one of those simple battery powered votive candles you find at craft stores. This one just happens to change color, which I thought was neat. The other parts I made myself.

Indeed. That looks so good. I have thought about on numerous occasions if something suitable came to hand. But never took it to the next step. This excellent example will hopefully push me further. ;-)

Thanks everyone! I love the safety mechanism idea. When it switches to red it really looks like it's angry and going to explode

I'd love to make a few more but I haven't seen that same toy gun since...

The weathering is my first attempt at sponging on chipped paint. I base coated it with a pale green flat primer, then washed it with a dirty brown wash. When that dried I sponged on a dark brown. Since the sponge only touches the high points, it's perfect for hitting the areas that would become worn. After the brown I went in with a rust orange color as a highlight. I'm happy with it. It has that electrical machinery industrial green look.

I was just bemoaning in my head the lack going on up in VSF board, and now I find the really great stuff, you KNOW this would be awesome for a Victorian mad scientist, is down here among the gleaming spires of the future!

Sorry, I'm so bad, all I could think was, 'you know, if you got THREE candles, you could have glowing on each level...' 

Well, maybe one on the bottom, one suspended in the top.
