DIY Terrain
« on: September 28, 2015, 04:59:13 PM »
This has probably been covered, but I'm new to the forum. Are there any highly detailed Terrain making videos or photos(step by step) for Strange Aeons. Also good places to find scale cars and such. I've found a couple videos here and there but very few.focus on the 1920s and 30s. Any and all help is appreciated.

For terrain I'm not so sure, but I bought a couple of Matchbox Models of Yesteryear from eBay cheap and they look decent with 28mm figs, so maybe you could try that.
The most important thing in the hobby is that you're having FUN! Doesn't matter if you win or lose.

Welcome!
I haven't made any strange Aeons stuff for ages, but if you click on my Flickr website in the corner of my profile you can check out my terrain.  Pm me if you like anything and I can help you figure out how to make it.  I think most of the members here would do the same.  There is much better stuff out there than mine, but it is a good place to start because I'm cheap and unskilled! ;)

I can concur.  I think it was this very forum that turned me on to these cars.  I have 3 which is 3 more than you 'really' need and probably 2 more than I will use...but hey, some guys drink, some guys do sports...   :D

Edit: sorry...

Terrain, there are loads of stuff on YouTube.  I have been "gaming" since the 70s.  IMHO, one of the two best I have seen are a pair of guys (I have no association with other than I subscribed to their vids) are below.  Not strickly "Strange Aeons" but it works.  You have to "think outside the box" really.   For example, DM Scotty has a few vids on how to make graves and headstones as well as "open graves".  Perfect!  His methods work (I have used them in the past for foxholes), but I did not use that method.  Instead, from a different video DMScotty has he turned me on to Crayola "Model Magic".  I used this to make all of my graves in one night (no waiting for the glue to dry, much easier).  Then again, I had seen this "Model Magic" in the past, but I never tried it until I saw another video he had on Youtube where he used it for another project entirely...

There is terrain you can buy on the net plus a few firms that deal in laser cut plywood or MDF building then there is resin.
Plus if you're creative you can use blue foam.
This is good place if you looking for ideas to create you own.

I'd consider using ebay for cars as well but Kjiji is another possibility and has the advantage of being in your area.  This week I picked up a lot of 6 cars period cars (1925-1929, manufacturer Solido) from a guy in my area for $65 cdn (no taxes).  I'm not a auto enthusiast and my story is likely set in at the beginning of the 1920s but neither is anyone who will be involved in the game either.  As long as the uninformed viewer sees, "old car" these will work perfectly.  The 1925 Panhard-Levosser is almost repainted and I'm looking forward to getting a start on the others.  I just wish I'd been able to collect a truck of some sort.

lol boy, you 'really' do suck.  THAT idea of using lights had never occured to me...and I already own at least one light kit I have had for years sitting around doing nothing.

Now I have to do it...as soon as I finish my scene of horror and about 3 dozen figures...

I did get my doomsday device/resonator done just today.  If we use it tomorrow I will post a few pics.

Uncle Mike!  I 'really' am liking your game!   :-*
