Is it fair?
« on: 08 November 2015, 10:39:04 PM »
So, my daughter and I playing a game of SA (my kind of family bonding.)  The scenario is Treasure Hunt, the variant.  Her lurker list consists of a witch, some familiars, a serpentman, and a hybrid.  Well, my Threshold team has killed everything except the witch.  Unfortunately, the witch found the treasure and has "Fair Beauty" cast on herself.  She passed every resolve test as I whittled down the lurker list.  So now, my remaining team stands between her and the board edge, but they cannot do anything to her.  Or can they?

Am I missing something?

The only way that I can think of is to have a Threshold Magic user have the spell "Compel" and cast it against the Witch to have her directly cast a spell (Although it doesn't say so in the compel spell, I have assumed that Shooting is the equivalent of casting a spell) which will cancel the Fair Maiden spell. Otherwise, I believe you are out of luck and will lose the scenario. And if I am incorrect. You lose,

Fair enough.

However, looking at the objectives for the lurkers, they need to eliminate the threshold agents or get the treasure off the board.  Which I prevented by encircling the witch.  I could find no rules for stalemate.  So treating it as not "winning", so no automatic roll.  I would suppose the only other box on the sheet is "loss".   Seems a bit anticlimatic.

Interesting. I would say loss for Threshold.  :? They can't all be zingers I guess! Advise: Next time you play Treasure Hunt don't allow the Variant if you are worried about the searching Witch. Or...in a regular game of Treasure Hunt always target the Witch!!!  ;)

But then life is not fair either.  Somehow I will go on.

It is alright, I got back the following game.  Now she is off creating her next lurker list.  Seems a bit like nuclear escalation.

Like I said, family bonding.

And thank you for the inputs.  It is helping me "understand" the ruleset.
