Pulp Alley soundtracks?
« on: 27 October 2015, 12:43:08 PM »
If I should find some nice sountracks for my pulp alley games what I could use?

I yet know the "sky captain and the world of tomorrow" sountrack than could be fine. Any more suggestions?

I'm especially looking for a theme fine for martian invaders (however NOT the "Mars Attack" theme ;) )
And maybe a nice theme for ugly alien swarm invaders.

anything that has a theremin sound would be good i think.  from wikipedia - "used in movie soundtracks such as Miklós Rózsa's for Spellbound and The Lost Weekend and Bernard Herrmann's for The Day the Earth Stood Still and as the theme tune for the ITV drama Midsomer Murders."

I always find the actual music of the era very atmospheric--better than soundtracks in my opinion. Any collection of the top hits from the 20's or 30's would be a great place to start.

I tend to use themes from pulp era shows - Third Man, Perry Mason, etc.

I like to listen to old adventure serials -- Spy Smasher, Crimson Ghost, Fighting Devil Dogs, Green Hornet and so on.

I have saved a bunch to my You Tube channel (Pulp Alley -- Serials of Extraordinary Adventure). Start the playlist and it will run for a couple days!  lol -- https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL5sjn64oN6aZcZNM2jQ-LU_WJNJDvIui0

I have a couple CDs of Film Noir soundtracks that I like to play, as well as several films.

We've also been listening to some C.W. Stoneking lately. Check it out!  :D

I find anything by John Williams works.

Obviously the Indiana Jones soundtracks, but I tend to use "John Williams: Greatest Hits 1969-1999" for a mix of background music.
