I have the Fartok.
« on: 08 November 2015, 03:07:28 AM »
Um, so despite bailing on Bolt Action about a year and a half ago, I thought Bolt Action in Space should be fun, right?

Got this as my birthday present. I did a smallish blog bit about the contents.

Look forward to seeing these painted.

And the phrase "Find what you love and let it kill you" is awesome.

Antares still hasn't got me interested.  Too many historical projects at the moment I want to finish. Never say never though.

The quote is fantastic though. Would look good on a coat of arms.

Bukowski was genius. I highly recommend reading post office.  Good poet good drunk and a good fighter what more did people want from the man I ask you.

You know what's weird; I minored in English, and consider myself pretty decently read - and I prefer post-1945 lit; I've never run into this guy or his work!

Definitely going to check out some of his stuff now though.

the movie barfly with mickey rourke was about him.

The fact you have never heard of Charlie just means you have never had a drinking problem (or shared a house with 3 permanently drunken university scholars.)

I will definitely watch that movie now too.

I suppose I avoided the hard drinking thing - had a couple of years, but then managed to walk away. Thank god.

I still don't know what the Fartok is though!

Is that a Hungarian composer noted for using his butt? Noted composer of "Sonata for ass cheeks in D minor?"

For all that the Ghar are described as vicious bastards genetically engineered to be one big genocidal killing machine, they do have a comical quality about them when you see them out of their battlesuits. The name "Fartok" suits the little bugger well.

Fully agree. They seem marvellously inept with their hand weapons, and comically feeble. I like that. There's some good laughs with these guys.

Bukowski: May I suggest the movie Factotum?

No offense, but he was damn famous, though to perhaps an older generation. He even gets a song in the musical Hair.

Don't most look like they bailed the suit, gasping, because it was NOT OK!  lol

Edit: My store's been contacted; hope we get some of the not-Eldrad Boromites!

No offence taken. I mean, I consider myself to be pretty well read, I crush Jeopardy sitting in my armchair on a regular basis - so to not have heard of this guy (and I'm not young...), I was, well, pleasantly surprised maybe? Good to learn of new things ,eh?

Not-Eldrad Boromites? What are they like?

I assume you know the Boromites.

Well, they look a lot like a Dr. Who, fourth doctor, villain named 'Eldrad' from Hand of Fear. Whenever I see something that looks similar, not in the least suggesting it's a copy, it's a 'not-' something.

LOL.  lol

I thought you meant this Eldrad.

Which if was the case, the Boromites might have been a lot more interesting to me - they are the one army that I don't like in BtGoA.

I do see the resemblance to your Eldrad now though. Fourth doctor was my favourite.
