Quandry du Jour
« on: November 13, 2015, 04:34:05 AM »
So, I've got this vast Old West collection and my "good guys, bad guys" are divided up into groups of twelve.  My basic plan is to have everything based in threes (I said vast, remember?).  My question is should I have three figures out of each twelve single based and the other nine on three figure bases?  That would allow some one on one action from time to time.  But the real goal of the collection is an Extravaganza Game titled The Whole Wilder West, All At Once - a game on the distant horizon at the moment.  That is why three figures to a base, to allow moving a lot of figures quickly.

Oh, and, naturally, this is in 15 mm so not quite as insane as it may seem; insane, certainly, but not quite so as it may seem.   ::)

If things go according to plan (do they ever?), I hope to complete my old west steam trains and all the wagons and carts and coaches and such over winter and the army's remuda and the native pony herd and round out the bison herd and paint up the pronghorn antelope herd.  I'll try and post a progress thread.  If I do and if I meet my goal you'll really understand the vastness.  You may also recommend me for an institution!

Have a look at Peter Pig's wild west rules 'Hey you in the Jail' This has leaders on single bases & followers on multiple bases. It is also for 15mm. They also do a very nice range of figures.

You might also try looking a Makatishi's Tea House, again nice stuff & he mounts stuff on multiple bases. Has useful guides to building stuff (e.g.Western Town & scenery)

Hey 15s,
You can always use my Fistful of Lead rules. There are folks who use them for 15s. The multi bases aren't a problem as targets can take 3 hits. Fast easy rules. Plenty of positive reviews on the internet.
And as a shameless plug we're running a Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/592450292/fistful-of-lead-reloaded
PDF of the rules for $10.

Why not keep the individual bases, and use some movement trays? That way, they can be singly or multi-based, as you need.
