What swash would you buckle?
« on: 02 December 2015, 11:53:06 AM »
Some friends and I are making a swashbuckling game, that focuses on action, crazy stunts and great characters.

What started as your standard skirmish game, went from generic fantasy, weighed down by to many tropes and went to swasbuckling action heroes. Did away with the measuring tape and decided that the dice whould not dictate what happen, but simply add variety.

I ask you:

What would you expect to DO in a swashbuckling game?
Does a game HAS to have a tape measure to be a tabletop game?

And secondly, going with strong intentions of Self Publishing(dun dun duuun) what makes you buy into a new game on kickstarter:
New great miniatures(concept art, greens)?
Great rules, posted from day one?
A great idea that needs to see the light of day?

In our swashbuckling games a character always had to check morale whenever he comes to pass females or alcohol within a certain distance. If failed he had to move into base contact and start a talk or take a shot with subsequent possible results...

That is glorius. Right now, the main chars are 2 male and 2 female, but the booze thing could still hold up.

Great miniatures are my main draw to a kickstarter, preferably ones that are flexible/can be used for mutiple systems.

As for types of action? In my opinion it isn't swashbuckling unless someone is swinging from a chandelier/rope!
