I made a sci-fi terrain "boil."
« on: 22 August 2016, 01:55:39 PM »
It's made from deforming the top of a pop bottle over a candle.

I also made a small one that has not yet erupted with hot glue and black ink.  It needs a coat of gloss varnish as it looks shiny in person but doesn't photograph as well.

Effectively creepy.  I'm waiting to see what erupts from it.
Back from the dead, almost.

Thanks everyone!

I was reminded of Tasha Yar while I made the smaller one.   o_o

Things definitely will.  Though what does is a bit down the painting que.

Yeah, definitely an outdoor/well ventilated area type of project.  As well, if you see the plastic go frosty, change colours or see bubbles form, stop.  You just want it to become malleable, not melt, burn or off gas.

Understood. There's a few Vancouver / BC LAF members about.

I'm in Chinatown and have been lucky to have a couple of EastVan gaming buddies.

Oh, so that's what poor career decisions and fear of being typecast look like.  :)

Made some alien plants from dollar store fake flowers.

I pulled them off the stems, trimmed some nubs and hot glued them to small coins.  Then gave them a coat of diluted PVA because they were shedding.

They're Floral Garden brand "Pom Poms x6."  Apparently Floral Garden is a big manufacturer of fake flowers in China, so they're probably available in most dollar store or pound shop type places.  I got mine at Dollar Tree.

15mm sci-fi guys and matchbox MRAP for scale.

I'm really close to having enough terrain.
