Early adventuring and exploring

Pre-repeaters/clip fed rifles.

African, Tibetan, North/South American adventures.

Very early breech loaders will be considered.

Exploration, anti-explorer xenophobic locals, suspicious locals not necessarily hostile but not overly helpful.

No earlier than 1650s.

Spanish and Portuguese seems likely but surely other non-Anglo adventurers were seeking fame and fortune?  What periods should I be reading about?

North America: The Mountain Men, 1820s and 30s. Foundry has a great line for this.

Africa: Various slave-capturing expeditions.

Recently I've been thinking of raising armies for "English Tangier" -- which lasted from 1661 to 1684.  It pits Restoration era British regulars vs. North African Moors.  Far less superior firepower for the Imperial side than the later campaigns of the 18th and 19th Centuries.

Can't help much with the figures. I am pretty much a 28mm man.

However, for Africa in the 18th Century I would think any American Revolution
type militia figures. Or certain Fr and Indian War. I am sure there would be many
15mm Africans out there from colonial periods.

There are no direct Mountain Man figures in 15mm that I am aware of. However, again
from the Fr and Indian War, French trappers and frontiersmen would work.

Labrador and terre neuve, mid 17th cent , lots of skirmish between eskimo/inuits and seamen /fishermen from holland, france and england.
