Very nice article.  

Most of my dwarf figures are either the Der Kriegspieler ones (1970s) and the early Ral Partha ones though I do have the Denizen ones as potential OD&D adventurers which I may or may not keep/sell/give away.

I have no problem with scale or even leather armor for dwarf figures (scouts for the latter or for the former one of the smaller and possibly poorer family lines)  but the vast majority should be wearing chain mail.  Plate is fine for leaders in non-Middle Earth games IMO.
