Bretten 1504 - A siege
« on: October 04, 2016, 02:51:01 PM »
Every year after the saint’s day of St. Peter and St. Paul there is a great medieval show in the small town Bretten, near Karlsruhe in Germany.
The pictures you can see in the report are from this year. I visited the fair on saturday the 2.7. and sunday the 3.7.
And yes. I have had a lot of fun.
There are a lot of films and pictures to see. Text in english and german.

Have fun with the pictures.

Fantastic, thank you for sharing.

I guess I have another project to start looking into now ;)
Eagles may soar, but weasels don\'t get sucked into jet engines.

Does anyone know of any books to help my knowledge of this particular era of European medieval history?

What would you consider essential reading?

Nice. I do medieval battle reenactment 1390-1440. Love the Landsknechts but unfortunately they are not as popular as earlier 15th stuff and certainly hardly any groups in the UK.

@Fletcher
For a first reading, I would vote for the different Ospreys of that period.

@ Stavros
I think for the english people your reenactment period is much more interesting because of the 100 years war. In Germany the High Middle Age of the 13. century is the most prominent time I would say, followed by the Landsknecht period.
