Hello, everyone.

Doing a brief poll here. As some of you may know, I'm in the early stages of setting up a small miniatures company. Part of the range will be there to allow us (myself and the much more talented guys who will probably be sculpting for me) the change to do characters that would be useful in a Pulp Game but who, for whatever reason, haven't been covered. I will reveal more details as we're further along, but I'm in the middle of doing some planning, and could really use your help.

I've got several ideas, but I'd like to hear your thoughts. Up above I've got basically five choices The Green Hornet + Kato, the Lone Ranger + Tanto, The Phantom, and The Avenger. Obviously, some of these would have to be similar likenesses, but others are fine due to copyright status, etc.

If you would be so kind, please take a moment to vote in my poll. If you choose option 5, which is perfectly valid, it would be a huge help for me if you'd tell me what "other" character you'd want. Ie: "I really want the Spider", "I'd like to see the Bat", maybe you're into obscure stuff like me and would like to see a Ben Grimm or a Captain Hazard. Fair enough.

Don't bother asking for Solomon Kane - I have already decided that he will definitely be part of the line in some way, so use your votes for somebody else. Remember - I'm covering all of Pulp Adventure here, so you've got a broad range to pick from.

Not asking for troop types here, those are already in the works, I'm very happy to say, but I would like to hear your thoughts on specific characters.

Thanks -very- much.

-Doc (Alex)

P.S.

If you could, please avoid choosing characters who are already covered. I'm not attempting to compete with or out do the big Adventure Pulp companies (Pulp, Artizan, Brigade, etc..), merely complement them. Also, remember that our own Malamute is doing a beautiful range of Zorro figs, so no need for those, either.

I seem to recall that in your earlier thread you mentioned that this would be a "Pulp" Green Hornet & Kato, not the 1960s TV show Green Hornet & Kato (Bruce Lee).

IIRC the 1940s comic book Green Hornet wore a surgeon's mask & carried a gas gun, and I assume that the Pulp Green Hornet is/was similar. Frankly, I think that the later 1960s Green Hornet is far more iconic visually and would be a better choice (plus you get to add a cool car for the Black Beauty :-*).

  The Phantom. Without a doubt.

One miniature is too many, and a thousand are not enough...

"V" for Vendetta.

I think he is one cool guy!  8)

or "The Count of Monte-Christo."

Would these guys be in this Genre?

Yeah, I think they both qualify for sure, Helen:) "V" is a modern character, but definitely adaptable and inspired by the genre. I'm sure he'd work well in a sword and musket setting, too.

The Count definitely counts as an adventure hero!

Interesting. The Phantom definitely seems to be winning the race hand over fist. Very cool.

I voted for the phantom.  A version with both guns drawn and with the guns in the holsters, open handed.

Other thoughts would be Dashell Hammett, the Humphrey Bogart version.

The wwII version of Capt America, ie shield and Thompson submachine gun.

Bonnie and Clyde and the Texas rangers that got them.

A 30s motorcycle cop on his motorcycle, firing his Thompson machinegun.

BTW I detest the "Bat".

I believe that the London Warroom miniatures company used to make a "V" figure, but they appear to have gone belly-up recently...

A couple of years ago, I asked Bob Murch (Pulp Figures) if he might do a not-Phantom figure. He said "no" because the figure would be too obvious as the real thing.

I am hoping for a good Green Hornet and Kato, but in the "Green Hornet Returns" serial movie style...

I've been tempted to convert a mini for Ghost Zero, a modern creation in the pulp style by Dave Flora:

But a nice mini from a talented sculptor would be better.  :)

As opposed to his Shadow and Doc Savage and Rocketeer figures...?! Oh, puh-leeze...!

You know, it occurs to me that one might be able to convert a passable "Living Ghost Who Walks" (Phantom) out of one of Bob's current Radon Zombies of the Ionosphere models, if one were so inclined...

Re-sculpt the face a bit to make it less gaunt and add a domino mask, do a weapon swap with a revolver and maybe trim down the rather portly physique and *bam!* there you are! (You should probably give him a dog and a horse, though...).
