The Bush Wars and Modern Nigerian ranges look interesting - anyone seen these in the flesh?

Leaving aside the quality of the sculpts, some of the details are just wrong for the Bush Wars range. Wrong weapons, equipment. Still, there seems to be the odd useable figure in there.

Is there any mention of who the sculptor is?

The style looks familar to me, in which case they may well be shorter than traditional 28mm - would be good to see a photo with a ruler.

Either way, the hands don't look great...add that to the odd kit etc, and the sculpts look like someone has knocked them out v.quickly.

Maybe I've just been spoilt by the sculpts from Eureka (and even there my inner webbing nerd was itching to make adjustments), but to me, these just don't look the part. Too generic; weapons and kit wrong, uniforms (button up collars) etc. Will serve as 'counts as' but to me that's it...

I have a lot of their 19th C figures and they are in fact quite tall and hefty. Mix quite good with Gringo 40.

I agree with you WillieB. I also got some of their 1930 Italians which are by another sculptor and unfortunately not quite as good...

IMHO they look like WhiffWaff sculpts who I believe is Adam Gayford...but I'm not 100% sure...

This looks like a great range. I've always loved Adam Gayford's sculpts, you find them everywhere, I believe he's retired from the industry which is a great shame as I had him in mind for some ranges I wanted sculpting.

The CIBOS range is particularly interesting, especially the Modern Nigeria range. I'd like to see some eccentric looking African political leader types, and some machete wielding mob types.

I'd love to pick some of these up for conversions to STALKER figs. There a US distributor?

Having picked up a few packs through a group order (thanks to Tiny Terrain) I have to say these are not good miniatures. Some shoddy casting, coupled with blobby feet and some naff detail.

They are salvageable - but it is taking quite a bit of work.
