Indian Mutiny iron duke question
« on: April 30, 2017, 08:36:47 AM »
Hi, I am working on a Sikh Wars project, using  for my Company Indian troops mainly Mutiny figures. The new Iron Duke cavalry look ideal but two questions. They come with Guidon bearers, does anyone actually do guidons for East india Company troops? Not seen these before. The Irregular Cavalry look particularly nice, however they all have swords most of the images I have seen give them lances is that just a mis-conception? appreciate any thoughts.

Hi Rogerc, I don't know if you are aware but there is lots of information on the ID site here
http://www.irondukeminiatures.co.uk/p-4-uniforms-etc
I haven't read through it all but there are significant sections of text relating to cavalry which may help you.

Actually the new Iron Duke cavalry sets are just the first releases.Later this year 'support packs' will be available with just sowars. Check out the Iron Duke website for further info but somewhere it is mentioned that some of these support packs will be lancers as apparently they were armed with these in the Indian Mutiny as well.
Flags will surely become available later as well. I have the ID infantry flags and they are excellent.

For what it is worth the Studio Miniatures figures for the Sikh and Afghan Wars are superb too,  and match the Iron Duke ones perfectly. I did everything in reverse to you and used some of these for the Indian Mutiny.
