Saints & Strangers
« on: May 06, 2017, 08:56:40 AM »
Haven't seen a thread about this one, I've been watching it on Netflix. It tells the story of the Mayflower pilgrims and the first year of New Plymouth. Big budget, some good actors involved and seems like a good depiction of the period (then again, I'm not an expert). Figured it might be of interest to people doing 17th century and FIW.

Despite the dramatic trailers, a lot of it depicts the everyday life of the colony.

Watched it here in Canada   :), just 2 episodes but not bad.

There is also Jamestown that started 2 weeks ago and looks like 8 episodes. I have seen the first episode and quite good.

If you're interested in early Virginia, don't miss the movie The New World:

One of my favorite old gospel songs asserts that you can be both a Pilgrim and a Stranger:

It's only available from Netflix in the U.S. through their DVD service.
