28mm Roman Ballista
« on: October 06, 2017, 07:10:37 PM »
Can anyone point me to a manufacturer that has a good 28mm Roman Ballista. Sorry if this is a simple question I don't game in this era but I need a few for a project.

Thanks,

Raymond

here is a good bet, the scorpion is plastic so a good buy, the picture you have shown is actually a scorpion which is smaller than a ballista

There seems to be something wrong with our bloody ships today...turn two points to port.

Stronghold Terrain do a cracking late Roman one too, cleanly cast and fits together a treat, got it primed ready to paint after my holiday.

The Foundry one (by Perry) is still my favourite:

They're also nicely matched by Paul Hicks' work for Warlord.

I think this is my favorite as well. I like the the plastic one as well, but size wise the Wargames Foundry fits my purpose much better. Thanks guys.

I have mostly Late Roman Gripping Beast artillery pieces, which I love. However Foundry has the only light cheiroballistra that I've been able to find. I put them on wagons in my army

Also, if you would like the grand-daddy of all ballistae, Black Tree Design makes a 60-pounder and their annual Black Friday 50% off sale  is next month. The BTD crew is EIR, I bought an extra Late Roman crew for mine.

They also have EIR ballistae which are pretty inexpensive if you get them on sale as well, I have a couple for Broken Legions.

You go to war with the figures you have, not the figures you wish you had!
