Um, no. I thought he might want a chance to respond to customer criticism/desires. Which apparently he doesn't. Why you think asking if he could expand his options needs a private conversation I have no idea.
The problem with a public forum dedicated to the false idea of politeness is that anything negative is considered a rant. I'm exercising my right as a potential consumer to express disappointment about what I see as strange business practices. If you think anything I've said reaches the level of a rant I'd advise you to broaden your horizons.
If you WANT me to rant I could probably go at length about using emoticons as a twee passive-aggresive way to try and undercut someone else's opinions.
