Ready for action: my WW2 Dutch army
« on: May 21, 2017, 09:46:26 AM »
“Klaar voor actie!” After a several weeks of painting, my small WW2 Dutch army is finally ready for action.

These 28mm figures are all produced by Dutch company May ’40 Miniatures, whilst the Carden-Loyd tankette is by Reiver Castings.

The small force consists of three infantry sections, and a three-man HQ group. They’re supported by a machine gun and a mortar, and have a medical team with them. There’s also a dinky little Carden-Loyd tankette.

Very nice little army, the personal connection makes it a little bit more special.

Well that was quick! Seems like only yesterday you were planning this lot and building ruined cottages to wher your appetite. Lovely work, as always!

Fine painting. don't sell your self short.
Love that you have a tie in with you father.
You state that the Dutch did not have much in support
as far as heavy weapons.
Did they have any tanks?

It's looking very good indeed. Now for those marines  ;)

Next time when you are overhere (I hope in better circumstances) we need to meet up and have a drink or 2  :D Who knows what we've got ready by then, M38? M39? Veld 10? Wielrijders? Muahahahaha

@Marine 0846:  No tanks. The Dutch had 32 armoured cars (M.36, M.38 and M.39) in service, plus six M.39s that weren't battle ready. They also had five Carden-Loyd MkIV tankettes and a small number of obsolete Morris armoured cars.

Thanks for that, and the videos look interesting.

I have a Mutton Chop Garage (Empress) one awaiting stowage on my workbench at the moment, but that one is the cabriolet only version.
