Skirmishing the Peninsula...
« on: May 24, 2017, 07:04:44 AM »
I've just received a copy of has.been and vodkafan's skirmish rules... thanks a lot chaps. I'm after a dozen or so of His Grace's finest, Sharpey and lads, supported by the 52nd. Ox and Bucks. I'll also need a dozen Voltijoors for them to bash up a bit. I want the Brits to look like they've been hard campaigning throughout the summer, the froggies in full dress type thingys so I can do all them plumes, cords and epaulettes!
I've always done 15mm munchkins for Napoleonicing... who does the finest 28mm to the above criteria please?

Arry
in no particular order or preference and from memory only.
Front Rank, Perry, Eagle, Elite, Brigade Games.

Brigade have recently done a very good interpretation of Sharpey and his "Chosen Men".

They also do suitable Lights.

However the Brigade Portuguese I have are relatively slim/small compared to my FR British but size ok with Perry.
In plastic you can have Perry, Warlord or Victrix

Hope this helps
Mark

Hi Harry, I wish you much happy gaming! However, I cannot take any credit at all for the rules, they were written by Peter years ago.

I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

2019 Painting Challenge :
figures bought: 500+
figures painted: 57
9 vehicles painted
4 terrain pieces scratchbuilt

Front Rank = good & solid castings & the owner is a nice man to deal with.
Eagle have a nice feel to them & would fit the 'campaign' look especially their Spanish.
To emphasise the 'campaign' look I recommend mixing manufacturers.

I believe they were someone's custom figures.

Fancied a Chiltern Sharpe and Harper for the Rifles, but wot's the best shade of Vallejo green for them, mid seventies since I last painted a Rifleman!?

I paint dark-to light from a black undercoat and having experimented with a couple of greens I use  GW Dark Angels Green as the shade coat and then various lighter greens (veering towards yellow rather than white) in the Humbrol acrylics range as highlight...no experience with Vallejo sorry.

Dark Angels green is good for that kind of shade, perhaps with a spot of black for the first layer. Might also be worth checking out Vallejo model colour Black Green or German Camo Extra Dark Green which is a little greyer
