While visiting the National Army Museum this weekend I picked up this book:

http://www.leonaur.co.uk/books/booknumber.php?bookid=197

....as a result of which I seem to have started on a new wargames period (today I ordered all the figures I need to build a BoB British force).

I'm going to use the British/Canadain figures from the HLBSCo Great White North range.

At the time I'm writing this shop section on the HLBS website is down, but you can still order over the phone to Richard.
In the US order from http://www.rlbps.com/RLBPHlbs.htm.

Remember that if you want any of these figures remember that HLBS will be discontinuing this range at the end of this month (although I'm sure that someone will pick take over producing these in due course).

I disagree.  If ordering from the US/Canada it's worth calling Richard in the UK - RLBPS have a massive mark up on Richard's figures.  A direct order is certainly worth the cost of a phone call!!

Definitely. Ordering direct is worth while.

HLBS do make great figures too. Shame they're quitting 28mm  :'(

I'm not sure whether the whites would be fighting allies but you never know, maybe they need arms and attack a supply dump, we will come up with something though.

Robert Jackson's 'At War with the Bolsheviks' has some interesting background, also the naval activity in the Baltic, Murmansk & Archangel areas...plenty of ideas for scenarios there I'd have thought

Quite possibly ....

I will probably end up getting a handful of Bolsheviks for them to fight too. Must persuade Dr De'Ath to get some troops too.

I'm particularly taken with the Siberian front. Reading the book I mentioned, the troops of the Middlesex Regt initially found themselves operating alongside Czech Legion (with 2 armoured trains  :o :o) and cossacks. How's that for an interesting mix?

I've just read a chapter inthe book that describes a BIG battle. Allies were mostly Japanese (whose general gave orders designed to exclude the other allies from the fight), plus British, Czech and Cossack (the French didn't make it into action). Both sides had armoured trains trading shots ON THE SAME TRACK. The British train was crewed by Royal Navy & Marines, mounting 2 x 12pdr naval guns. This period is definately growing on me!
