Great looking figures and terrain. The painting on your figures is top notch. I did notice that these particular Indians who are attacking the settlers can't be very intelligent...did you see the crazy looking skulls hanging on the war and roof of the house??  What are the native people thinking??  lol

Thanks for sharing...great looking tabletop

Thanks for the link for the rules.  Im going to be slowly building my Old West minis and while I got the RulesWNN, I will try this as well, and see how it works.  Cant wait to see more, when you can get the minis.

Thanks all.  :)

Dodge - the indians won.
The perimeter was too long to hold, and had too many gaps. So although the last of the defenders were holed up in the stockade by the time we finished, the rest of the station was overrun and 75% of the defenders were dead!

Who manufactures the blockhouses and fortifications?

One miniature is too many, and a thousand are not enough...

Thanks all - great to get such lovely feedback. I plan to expand this collection somewhat in the coming months, and will post pics of the new pieces as I get through them - which will probably be in the summer now...  :?

Mind if I ask what rules you were using? I like BaB for F&I myself, but realize it's not everyone's cuppa.

Doc, I use my own home-grown variant of the old classic Kill Zone rules - the original Future Wars skirmish ruleset, which I have freely adapted to all manner of non-Future Wars eras. It's just a great, simple, brutal system. And it's free. I have a deep personal loathing of most commerical rulesets which always seem to be fat, glossy 100 page books of mind-bending over-complexity, and for which you are expected to buy loads of supplements. I find a 10 page ruleset with a one page summary sheet makes for a much more enjoyable game  ;)

For anyone who's interested, you can grab the original Kill Zone rules for free here - http://www.mts.net/~gisby/kizo/killzone.htm

You will see that the basic system is easily adaptable to other periods and weapon technologies - you just need to change some of the terms for something more 'in period'.

Any chance I could get you to send me a copy of your F&I variant, Cap?

Thanks for the info, in any case. I'll definitely check them out. I had seen Killzone in passing, looked interesting. Will have to look again.

-Doc

Who manufactures the blockhouses and fortifications?

The blockhouse/stockade and cabin are made by Grand Manner - they have a large and ever expanding 'Americas' range. http://www.grandmanner.co.uk/shop/prodtype.asp?PT_ID=74&strPageHistory=cat

The barricades are just slung together barrels, tables etc, mainly from Frontline Wargaming's Three Musketeers accessories sets. http://www.frontlinewargaming.co.uk/25period.html

Any chance I could get you to send me a copy of your F&I variant, Cap?

Sure. Actually, they are adapted for pirates, but they work fine for F&IW  ;)
PM me your email address and I'll whizz them over to you.

absolutely superb models and terrain!  I like how you've got a mixed variety of trees, I assume collected over the years.  It always looks so much more realistic than 50 of the exact same tree.  I need more trees.

Thanks chaps.
Coming from excellent miniature terrain artists such as yourselves, that's very much appreciated  :)

Alas, all the terrain and buildings here were bought off the shelf.
But I do aspire to a truly scratchbuilt table up to the superlative standards of 'Geezer-town' or the gold-mine...

One day maybe. When I retire  ;)
