Vallejo paint 16 & 8 color sets - do they make triads? blend harmoneously?

Vallejo has come out with a lot of paint sets with 16 or 8 colors:

Do they comprise a lot of useful triads? Do they harmonize for shade blending?

I attempt to use the Steve Dean / Foundry 3 opaque layer style, but always end up doing more of a wet blend, more subtle transition.

I'm looking for earth tones for pre-gunpowder era clothing.  Foundry is the king of that color space.

I have some triad pdf files that someone did (this is not Loki's) and I spent some time marking up the Model Colors Earthtones set; but it took so long that I didn't look at every shade possibility.  I also tried to find the color equivalent in the Game Colors series.
