After the end of LPL11 and with the recent interest in Shadow Wars Armageddon and Dark Imperium 40k I am going for a large terrain and model project based on the 40k environment.

To begin with, here are my old forces - my Warhammer/WH40K (I just ignore the bases) Plaguebearers and my Legio Fausta marines (so named because I role far too many 1s).

(I just noticed the dust and cobwebs on these!)

(2003 Malta National 40K tournament vintage - I came 6th, and there were more than 6 participants - honest!)

A spot of scenery in progress:

The base is one of the 1' x 1' TTCombat boards which had been mentioned in a thread I cannot find - not too expensive, light, and quite useful.

Deathskull scavenged TieFighta...

Probably too big for Shadow Wars...

A converted weapon for the big beastie - anyone remember the old bubblechukka?

And something a bit more weird, at a VERY early stage. Anyone wish to guess what this will be?

I love that grimdark Sergant  :-* (would get my vote on LPL :P
His monument worthy underling is cool too
I really hate those models... have 20 from 2ed box stashed at the bottom of my most neglected miniatures box!!
Never managed to do decent job on more than one (My first painted miniature i have in my minis vignette as memory of the youth :)

I like CSM (those models sux too but were great in the grimdark times of 2ed platsics, they suffer today do to age :) with fancy hat too
He looks so cooler with that had.

SW:A is indeed great opportunity

Thanks - that was a quick colour scheme which I applied with a lack of uniformity, barring the single yellow shoulderpad.
The head is from an Empire soldier.

I love that Ork-Tie.
Brilliant!
 :-* lol :-*

I look forward to seeing where this is going, especially to see what other mad Ork nonsense you will be coming up wit.
 :D

Could that contraption be a Lifta-Droppa in progress?
 ??? ???

  • As my grandchildren see me...
"(I just noticed the dust and cobwebs on these!)"

If anything, in 'the (grim, dark) future...' you need more.  lol

And the 'TieFighta'...  ;D

Doug

Edit: 'Probably too big for Shadow Wars...' Not for terrain/objective!  :-*

Thanks guys, more slowly on the way - and no, it's not a lifta-droppa.
And yes, it could be scenery...

My first two Shadow Wars forces (well, one-model forces...!) - the Eversor and an old, old conversion, the Grimdark.

TheBeast - unfortunately I had dusted these two oldies before I saw your comment. In the grim dusty future has been brightened up, or at least dusted off.

Cool Eversor, although after seeing New One I skipped buying him and will get plastic. Silly Pose on that new one but mini is much larger.
Those Oldies are great sculpts but suffer due to size (scale creep hell).

That poor ex Dark Eldar with giant pincer is extra cool. Where is that pincer from ?

One suggestion about that guy which I learned from Fb groups - Exchanging his skull for horse skull would make him so much extra grimdark  lol
I chopped one of my MurderSerwitors and exchanged skull for horse skull and that model got a new life   o_o

It's not a guy  :D
The pincer is an extra Epic 40K Gargant weapon someone had given me.
And it's intentionally over the top. Good idea for the skull, but I'll save that for a newer iteration of my over-the-top assassin.

Here's where I go a bit off track - another two models which were almost complete for years, and which I have finished. Of course they're from two completely different teams, and I have Tau on the board too....

The marine scout is in the colours of my old Legio Fausta - anything as long as one shoulder pad is yellow! I was going to paint eyeballs, but the Orphan Annie eyes look better in real life than in the photo, so he's keeping them.

And now for some old, old Goliaths, who sadly have outgrown their ganger days and are now employed by the Imperium to paint its infrastructure. Based on a brief mention in the Shadow War Armageddon rulebook, here are the first two of my Dauberman gang - or daubers - based on the Genestealer list and faithful to their turf and colour. One of them loves his job so well he's whitewashed himself. Old paintjobs, but I couldn't bring myself to touch them up. The rest will be more thorough repaints and some new stuff.

Blimey!
You really are getting into this, aren't you?

Good to see it, especially as it means you are finishing things that have been waiting for their 'time' for a while.

When I saw Dauberman, my first thought was of dogs....

Very cool, that little fluff piece about "Daubers" was pretty evocative- I think it would be fun to develop that idea.
a mixture of quick parts, sarcastic humour, reserve, and caprice.
