My Primaris Marines so far including first 8th battle pics
« on: June 19, 2017, 03:43:04 AM »
I got my boxed set yesterday and have been working on these guys since then.  The plasma gunners are painted but not based yet.

I really like these figures.  They are very attentive to detail without having ridiculous amounts of extraneous stuff on them.

The rest of the guys can be seen here:

Thanks.  It was a fun game.  The different levels really made for some differences in how you thought about movement and so forth.  The timing limit probably made the marines do somethings they would not have done had they had more time, especially when the GSC made two good rolls at the end of each of the first two turns.

Oh I hate the hoods even when they are nicely painted :P

I actually like the hoods.  I think it makes them seem more resilient to crashing into stuff.

When you are on a 40K battlefield, with rubble buildings all around you, having a little extra protection for your noggin can't hurt if you are going to be quickly accelerating up every now and then.

Still these are not my favourite models in the set.  I did a full review of them on TMP here:

Not saying no, but the execution left me cold.

Captains hood is easily removable, those are more difficult but stil I saw one without of one of FB groups.
Not sure if I will keep them or try to swap for poxwalkers yet.

Interesting point on fragility.
If I will glue mine I will make them standard Assault marines with chainswords and such.
(I dont play 40k so I dont care for whole primaris thing really and plan tu use mine as truescale plain normal marines.)

Mine are just marines.  I have a Grey Knights force but no other loyalist marines in 40K (I have Rout for 30K) so these can just be what marines are.  I'll still use the rules for primaris ones because it makes the marines more fluff like but they won't be interacting with "regular" marines in the same game.  So far the only Chaos forces I've found that I'll use against them are the new Thousand sons.  Only slightly smaller which can be justified by saying that the armour collapses a little bit without the marine inside.

Cunning :)
I have some from 2 edition box and from Dark Venegance but they are grey plastic/cut up for parts.

But Ive been playing with truescalling for some years but I finished only two chaos marines. So I am in similar position.
But to be hones I dont expect to field more than few in Inquisimunda/Shadow War style of games anyway.

Well these will be more than enough for that.  I've now finished two squads of 10 primaris marines.

plus some Reivers:
