Dwarves in modern tactical gear?
« on: March 21, 2017, 04:34:33 PM »
So, odd question. Is anyone currently manufacturing fantasy style dwarves in modern tactical gear? I've been creating background for an RPG campaign that implements some weird war aspects.

No, the closest are the Panzerfauste dwarves, which are in WWII German uniforms. Of course, it might be possible to convert them with modern weaponry and to add in flak vests, baggy pants and all the other modern doodads.

Check the Shadowrun range from Ral Partha. It's 25mm, mind you.

Afterglow Miniatures has some dwarves that could/would work. The shield guards specifically.

Most likely a bit far off, but maybe the mercenary dwarfs from Warmachine are worth considering, though more to the side of a police anti-demonstration unit.
best wishes

A friend took some RT Space Marines, cut off the 'shins', and basically glued the knees to the feet. You might consider some beefy moderns for a similar treatment, especially with possible head swaps.

RAFM have Death in the Dark dwarfs which I had planned for a yet to see daylight secret wars VSF campaign, but there might be something you can convert there.

Karadron Overlords. The basic Infantry Uniform may suit your need. they are basically retrofuturist space pirates. Depending on your campaign the weapons are fine already but the guns don't have a 20th century look.

You might want to check out the Dwarves on the Kromlech site. They look like modern troopers in tactical gear, though the guns are definitely near-future and such.
