This is looking to shape up nicely. I've been interested in the 1st War since reading Taipan back in the mists of time, and the second since Flashman, but could never quite warm up to the stuff that was available.

Out of curiosity, what's the 3rd Opium War? I've never heard that one before.

thanks for your interest ..I think the general impression
of the Opium Wars in their entirety  was a large naval
action where the Brits blew the granny out of forts and
towns when in fact most of the action took place on land.

the Third Opium War was really "unfinished business" on
the part of the Brits from our repulse at the end of that war
at the Taku forts

in 1860 we returned with French troops against some stoic
and brave resistance form Manchu/imperial troops........

Ah, see, over here, the whole Arrow War up to and including the sack of the Summer Palace is commonly  and pretty much exclusively referred to as the second Opium War (for a total of two wars, one around 1840 and the second intermeshing with the Taiping).

Nomenclaturic nitpicking aside, I am looking forward to more. The EVA seems to be an interesting option for skirmish gaming, although I might go for some non-military like opium traders vs pirates vs the authorities.
