Thanks for all the ideas and support.

Feeling a lot better using my Orks for Deadzone !

Had fun game of Deadzone with my Orx vs GCPS (imperial guard basically). Orx are a very forgiving faction. I took the close combat boss and ripper suit, two mawbeasts (squigs) and a hulk. The GCPS pea shooters took down the squigs but the Hulk made good use of extra shooting dice and wasted around 3 GCPS (including their leader standing behind a massive pipe). The squigs were disappointing even when loaded up with splat frenzy enhancements and killed one GCPS dude but got wasted by the GCPS leader, who broke out of combat and chucked a grenade. You can see that in the pic below. But then GCPS we’re heavily outnumbered and I took all the objectives, sat on them for two turns and won. The GCPS mortar was unusually ineffective. I emotionally blackmailed my opponent not to take two mortars, as it’s not really a game. You spend all your time being bounced off buildings without seeing the enemy. And he did not take a strider. So it was always going to go my way but we both had fun.

I have had a lot of fun with this. Finally done the Orx Nobz for Deadzone. Never seem to be able to fit both into a 100 point list.

Nice paint job on all the Orks and I like how you have mixed and matched ranges/parts.

Orx and alternative enforcers for Deadzone

Repainted this goblin I’ve had for donkey’s years. In Deadzone they get sniper rifles and are awesome for the points/broken.

Also planning to use these space marines as enforcers with imperial guard as scouts with tag rifles. Look v World War One.

I reckon that’s one of the most fun parts! Thanks.

The Orks/Orx went up against the Plague in a 150 point game of Deadzone at the Pit Gaming Shop. We rolled Recon as the mission - basically run around the board picking up loot counters and standing on particular squares at the end of turns to get points. And of course taking out the enemy.

The Orks lost 10-6. The zombies were pretty solid in groups in combat. Better than the mawbeasts AKA squigs. But the Orks still wasted most of the Plague. They had just managed to be in the right places at the right time before getting wasted.

Highlights including the Orks trying to waste the Plague Strider by walking a hulk onto the cube above and blasting down into it twice, which didn’t work. But then the strider tried to disengage from two squigs, who ripped it apart. Much to laughter by all. Mostly mine.

The two ripper suits took out most of the remaining Plague.

Except for the first generation mutant. The big red thing in the second picture. He just strode about unkillable.

Am quite excited about upcoming killzone. There’s a suggestion you can have Orks with grots, Burna Boyz and kommandos. Might get it. Not sure how it’s different from Deadzone though...

By all means please do! He has a very guardians of the galaxy feel to me.

Well, I played my first game of Kill Team at the Pit Gaming Shop, Borehamwood. For the first couple of turns the Orks with choppas and sluggas ran across the field, taking heavy casualties from the imperial guard, whilst the ork specialists with two rocket launchas and boy with a heavy shoota hit nothing really. I didn’t really make tue most of being obscured but there wasn’t much scenery in the middle of the table. The choppy boyz connected with the imperials and with three attacks started really taking out imperial guard. But then we remembered we needed to start taking shock tests, or whatever they’re called. All the Orks bar da boss failed. I chose to bottle. Fun rules though and just a great opportunity to use my Ork minis including my grots from 1998, which I need to spruce up and base properly...

Oh yeah, never charge a grot, or anyone, at an imperial with a flamethrower as they auto fry on the overwatch reactions everyone gets...

Great looking guys.
Orks are lots of fun to paint.
Many years ago I sold an Ork army.
To this day I get flack from my son for selling them.

Thank you all. Orks are truly fun.

My second game of Kill Team at the Pit Gaming Shop, Borehamwood. Had a much better idea of what was going on this time which gave an enhanced experience.

The objective was to break through the lines of the opponent. As usual, the first couple of turns I moved the Orks with choppas and sluggas across the field, and a building I made sure was in the middle of the board shielded them from some gruelling fire by the Grey Knights.

But there was a bottle neck of Orks building up on both sides of the building as in the scouting phase the Grey Knights had chosen to booby trap the walls on both sides of the central building, allowing a one inch corridor on both sides only for Orks to pass through, and the booby traps blew the heads off a couple of gretchin (why else do we take gretchin?).

The Orks with rokkit launchas and a heavy stubba from my rear took a number of pot shots and mostly hit nothing apart from flesh wounding a Grey knight and taking out another (not bad). But they were mostly eviscerated in return by Grey Knight marksmanship.

I was surprised when the Grey Knights advanced out of cover towards the swelling mass of Orks on either sides of the central building. Did they know something we didn’t?

The Orks got in charges to the three Grey Knights on the other side of the building. Great you don’t need line of sight at the start of a charge! Less great that outnumbering does not stack so the Grey Knights fought afresh each combat in a whirling melee. One Grey Knight on the left flank fell to the horde. But the leader Grey Knight on the right was truly a hero. His psychic attacks caused flesh wounds, his mighty stick (whatever it’s called) took ork after ork out of action, and some lucky dice rolls left him on three flesh wounds only after an Ork Kommando nob with power claw had him on the ropes.

Some gretchin had breached the line and got victory points (always worth having a few scuttlers for the victory conditions). But the turn three morale phase was critical. The Grey Knights with their bleeding and tired leader passed a bottle check by one. The Orks with 8 of their number remaining and two very flesh wounded Grey Knights and one healthy one remaining felt cock a hoop being in combat with three attacks or more each with their boyz and choppas to follow in the next turn.  But at half number they failed their bottle check, and then all failed their nerve tests. The points were 6-4 in favour of the Orks. But they chose to flee rather than all be hammered to death (and it was getting late as we had really spent some time getting the hang of what is to be fair a fluid rules set).

A great game. But another Ork loss. Did the Orks ever think they could out battle Grey Knights?!!

Had a good game of Deadzone 3rd edition. Seemed a lot like 2nd and a lovely tight and fun system. Did this video of the game as well as showcasing my Orks/marauders.
