I need a carry case (UK supplier)
« on: June 30, 2017, 07:25:00 PM »
Folks,

Can I pick your brains on carry cases in the UK please?

I need to be able to carry around 40-50 28mm figures and keep them safe (I do drive so no bus trips)

I've currently use magnetic bases with metal sheets in filing boxes but this will not suffice long term.

I know of Figures in Comfort and K R cases but I've also looked at the new zigzag foam in the GW cases but unsure and as I cannot get to a show currently I'm unable to look other than on the net.

Any thoughts - good or bad?

I have been working in a store for the last year and a half and generally i recomend people a KR out of cost/storage space ratio.
However lately i got myself the citadel skirmish case with the zigzag foam, And since i started using it it's all i can recommend to people. The zig zag foam solves so many issues like odd shapes, bigger bases, spiky bits and protruding weapons.the miniatures don't run on the foam as much and it keeps everything solid.
If you're using 25mm mini's (foundry ect) on 25mm bases then the skirmish case will probably hold them all, Plus unlike a KR or other you won't have to buy new foams/cut up your current ones to store tanks/monsters should the need take you.

never trust a horse, they make a commitment to shoes that no animal should make.

Can`t go wrong with KR, I had an acersion but after many years of using box files caved in after figures got chipped whilst in trips in the car. What you can also do is buy only one filled with foam and then just get yourself extra inserts.

If you go for KR make sure you get half trays rather than full size ones.... the full ones are a right b*****r to lift out when filled.

I prefer the FiC ones - with a more solid base - for that very reason.

Thanks for the replies - I'll have a hunt but I can see it may have to wait till I can get to a show and grope the things myself though :)

I like the KR cases and inserts. But find their website incredibly hard work.

They do some quarter sized cases that are great for skirmish sets of figures.

I have a Feldherr card case as well - much easier to buy than the KR ones, and very nice soft foam. They also do a nice pluck and pick block which is great for big awkward shaped things. But the cardboard case is much lighter than the KR ones.

I have bought KR boxes from TrollTrader on eBay for just this reason, and at a good price. KR's website is terrible.

KR themselves even have stuff on eBay (or used to) and...GASP...you get to see a picture of what you're buying.  Honestly they should burn that website.

Has anyone used KR for space ships in particular? I use a bunch of them for my 28mms but haven't tried it for my fleets yet.

They have specific ones for Battlefleet Gothic and I was wondering if anyone could comment on them. Figures in Comfort have something a little different and I'd be interested in hearing anyone's thoughts on those too.

Meh, first world problems I guess  ;)
