Just recieved my Foundry Minis today!  The question is, what do you use for there bases.  I got plenty of round bases from 40k minis, would those work, or what is the norm?  Thanks for all the help.

Plastic bases are fine but they do make your figures look taller. A lot of people us plain round metal washers. There are also a lot of companies who sell sculpted bases.

My choice are 25mm round plastic bases, like WH40K and others

I have just finished painting 100 Wild West figures from Artizan, Foundry, Blue Moon Manufacturing and Old Glory. I mounted them on 1" steel washers. For basing, I used sand. I was going to add some flocking, and did to one figure, only to remove it as soon as I put it on. I liked the look of just sand, especially after watching about 5 Wild West movies this past month and noticing that most people are standing on dirt, mud and sand. It makes sense, especially when most games are played in towns on streets or in Arizona or Texas. Mind you, just my opinion. The only figures I mount on plastic bases are my LOTR figures, and even then, I put metal washers on the bottom for two reasons...
1) weight -  to keep the figures standing better on terrain
2) magnteic - they are stored in a tool cart with magnetic sheeting on the floors of the drawers.

I do use Gale Force Nine's magnetic bases only for my Napoleonics, but that is to provide a slight base to write down people's names on for skirmishing and label units for large scale battles. Yes I know, a bit crazy!!  ;D
Victory is guaranteed to the last man standing, but always remember those whom you stepped on to get there!!

I use metal bases like some of the others but with a difference. i use 1" square metal bases for my figures. That way I know which is the front of the figure and which is the rear.
Jane! Stop this crazy thing!

I tend to use 1p coins as it helps when going in and out of buildings etc more space to move around

20mm metal washer if the figure's base is small enough. Otherwise 25mm.

Slotta bases? Yuk.  ;)

Can't help but agree with that - 2p's for me on my skirmish figures.

I used to use these:

(Hope that link works). They're sold now as 'Battle of Five armies' bases, but used to be for Warmaster heroes. Basically they're plastic, flat, 25mm round bases - just like washers, but without the big hole in the middle  :)

I find it best to not have a norm at all. This way I don't have to muck about sanding down integral bases or fitting figures with slottabase tabs onto washers, or any of that frustrating crap which seems to make some people develop an absurd hatred for either slottabases or integral bases.

My figures have bases of many shapes, sizes and heights. The only two things I really pay attention to are:

1. Putting short figures on high bases and vice versa. It ameliorates some of the problems with using miniatures from multiple manufacturers.

2. Not using bases that are much larger than necessary. I only do skirmish/adventure gaming nowadays (in 28mm, that is) which can require figures to fit in tight spaces such as alleways, small alcoves and balconies. The less "footprint", the better.

Neither of these are things that I follow slavishly, though.
