Lovely games above as always - Well done Furt on getting more blood on the sand.

Herewith, a Battle Blocks Sengoku Samurai game.

The rules are quick and fun – as I played with miniatures I made a few stats specific to match the miniatures giving adjustments like a + or – 1 factor. I also gave disordered units a -1 in combat. For each counter, I used two miniatures so this made units a bit stronger than in the game as it is printed.

I played solo and when I play solo I play both sides to the best of my ability instead of using any sort of AI-type approach and this works better and is twice the fun and realism.

More detail on the rules and pictures of the game are available here: https://frictionbmcminiatures.blogspot.com/2022/07/golgothas-games-samurai-battle-blocks.html

Herewith, the continuation and conclusion to what was the first game and first part of a Victory at Sea game. Rather an obvious US victory especially given their typical overwhelming force - but the Japanese did inflict some very hard-hitting casualties with even the US carrier being damaged. The Japanese being really gutted having failed in an opportunity to torpedo the US carrier.

Successful Kamikaze and torpedo attack on the US convoy...

After a long hiatus - a lot longer than the lock down - my pirate figures return to the table.  This was just a half size practice game for convention game in a couple of weeks.  And in 15 mm.

Pirates attacking from the right against government forces on the left.  A variation on Morgan's raid on Panama. Behind the elbow of the long hand moving figures is a herd of cattle.  Alas, I don't have appropriate Spanish cavalry figures to chase the cattle so they will be under 'direction' of natives - who did impact the battle, at least the approach.  The cattle had a large impact on the battle in reality, not so much in the practice game.

Two matches of Blood on the Sands, Hoplomachus vs. Thraex and a classic Retiarius vs. Secutor match.

a mixture of quick parts, sarcastic humour, reserve, and caprice.

A little boarding action as an outgunned pirate xebec closes on a British Brigantine, hoping to take advantage of superior numbers of men.  Using 15mm figures and Chris Peers' "On the Seven Seas".

My friends and I played a game of Sandgrave (which is nothing more than a re-themed Frostgrave actually). It was also the last scenario of a custom campaign inspired by the Thaw of the Lich Lord.

It was quite a big game. All three warbands united together to dispatch neverending waves of undead and slowly cross the board to reach and fight the final boss (a mummy queen).

The board during mid-game:

The mummy queen:

An egyptian-themed tarot card. We drew cards like this to determine what curse the mummy queen summoned each turn (the moon card meant that all our lines of sight were reduced for the duration of the turn):
