A Viking raid in 28mm using my modification which I'm calling "Saga Lite." Essentially, I strip away all Advanced Saga abilities and the players using only Basic abilities (rest, move, shoot, charge). I also used a suggestion from my friends at Firelands Game Group and did alternating activations. Both sides do their Orders phase together, then each of the three players on each side would simultaneously do an activation. Then the opponents would do one. Then the first side, etc.

Pictures of the table, especially showing the Viking objectives -- the church, monastery, and animal pens. Most of the players were not regular or experienced Saga players. It worked out pretty well. I'll also had players keep their Saga command dice rolled in the "Inactive" section of the board and only assign it when they were using it. This gave them a chance to react to the events of the turn and also cut down on the time spent as players didn't have to think out their entire turn in the Orders phase.

Fun time! The Saga Lite worked well. My scenario? Check out my blog for details on how that worked out in my judgement:

First game of a solo fantasy campaign of Midgard.  The Thrymgardr face off against the forces of evil (assisted by Faffy).

Gods, monsters and men,
Will die together in the end.

Now we know what really happened to Sauron when the ring was destroyed.

Faffy looks comfy... 8)

This Friday past, we played a game of Fistful of Lead.  28mm, set in Balczakistan in 1991.  Balczakis had to attempt to rescue some of their own, trapped by fighters from the Balczaki Freedom Front.

We played FASA Starship Combat Simulator in a trip down memory lane for two of our Sunday evening game club. New 3-D prints of the starships hit the table for the first time as most of us learned the easy-to-pick up rules.

Overwhelming Federation victory as their ships blasted apart Klingon D-Somethings one after another, barely breaking a sweat! Our two most experienced players disagreed on whether the forces were unbalanced or the Klingon commodore had a boneheaded battle plan.  lol

Still, always fun to get together, move miniatures, roll dice, and drink beer!

Managed to squeeze space on the table between Christmas jigsaws, plants and trees for a Mike Lambo game:

Played four times - truly lost two, just lost one, convincingly won one. Very pleasant hour with this and a good cup of coffee (no Mariah Carey either).

OMG, is that a Chandley class ship I see on the table? Where did you get that? Did you print it yourself?
