Adding muzzle flashes etc to your photos
« on: September 28, 2017, 07:47:53 AM »
I got myself this App for my iPhone . It is called Lens FX and it cost me short of 4 Euros. You can add different effects to your photos like explosions, muzzle flashes, laser beams, smoke, fog and a lot more. The effects are added by overlaying additional layers on your photo you can then adapt the overlays by changing direction, adapting color or opacity etc. The App is very powerful  recommended if you have an iPhone.

Here is an example:

Interesting effects.  Not sure that I could find a place to use them since I don't have a blog, but I'm sure that others will find it useful.

Less is more.

Its too easy to add too much stuff. The explosion with black smoke, doesn't work in either of the photos you have added it to.

The background on the space ships works well, the laser beams much less so.

With the space marine, the laser beam is good - but the space marine isn't looking where he is shooting so it looks odd.

"Set phasers to impress" Your Starfleet photo looks great with the FX touch up.

Have to agree with the 'less is more'  :D

The plasma blast on the marine is good but the explosion does not match shape, style or lighting.

The missile trial in the Star Trek pic is just wrong but the sun works well.  Watch out for the phaser colour though!

Nice try for the first time though and thanks for sharing this app.

Your blending could use some work, especially with the explosions, and I think an appropriate background would absolutely help, but I can see the potential of the app.

Nice work.  :)

With the space marine, the laser beam is good - but the space marine isn't looking where he is shooting so it looks odd.

He's firing a plasmagun. It's common knowledge in 40K circles that you fire plasmaguns as far away from the body as possible and look away, because of their incliniation to blow up in your face...  ;)
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

This is probably true of most 40k weapons!

Thanks for the input! It was just a trial of the app . I didn't take dedicated pictures for this . Therefore background not really good etc. Will use it in the future  alas more sparingly.
