I had to bring a selection of painting materials with me on our family summer vacation, and despite the time restraints, bad lighting and slight spousal frowning, I got this guy finished! It's a bit of a rushed paintjob and certainly not my best, but I'm still satisfied...

Please get acquainted with Veteran Scout Sergeant Plumbus Maximus! :D

Great work, Daeothar! And you call that a rushed paintjob  lol What colors did you end up using?

Which company do you prefer to serve in? And for others that plan to serve in the Lead Legion (I think we're going with this name), let me know.

I'll take 5th (V's are easy to paint :P  )

Done. Do you have one to paint? If so, which company do you prefer to serve in?
Take your pick, I have no preference  :D

And yes, I have a very old and battered one to (quite appropriately) repaint.

Cheers  :)

I ended up using just one of the paints you recommended. I left out Buff, as I found it too yellow in real life. Same with Light Flesh, which was too red.

VMC Khaki (and NOT VGC Khaki) was spot on though and for the lighter parts, I used VMC Stone Grey 70.884 with white, which matched much better in the end.

I shaded the Khaki with VMC USA Olive Drab 70.889, which works really well with the khaki.

To compound matters, I've already prepped his squad of 4 matching plastic scouts, so I might get some more painting in, the coming two weeks (but probably only when the rest of the family has retired for the night now... :D )

Love the personalised heraldry on his shoulder pad.

Cheers Paul.

His right shoulderpad shows the standard icon for scout squads (inverted triangle), where D is the squad's number and 1 his designation in the squad (any similarities with my Forum Avatar is obviously purely coincidental lol ). The skull represents his veteran status.

The left shoulderpad shows the chapter badge.

His kneepads respectively show the alchemical symbol for lead and an Iron Halo, awarded to those who show remarkable zeal and speed to fulfil their duty to the chapter.

His boltpistol is an ancient relic of the chapter, signified by the painted pattern, signifying its checkered past. The other side of the pistol shows the common PB award, for sending above average amounts of lead downrange.

The lead chest eagle also sports a gem captured in battle, possibly an Eldar Soulstone...

 lol

Just making it up as I go along... :D

Biggest inspiration was the little red booklet that came with a paint set back in the first years of the nineties; it described many icons and symbols in this way... ;)

Fair enough.

But you did forget to tell us about his blue eyeshadow.
Was that from his New Romantic period?
