Cheap 6mm modern buildings
« on: June 29, 2017, 09:11:28 PM »
I am thinking of starting a new project. Using Irregular's 6mm riot figures
either to do urban riots or turn the rioters into zombies for an epic battle for control
of a city. GHQ is also going to be doing some zombies soon.

However, I am finding that the 6mm buildings out there are not cheap if I want to
try and do a big city. Anyone have suggestions for cheap buildings or items/things
I could use as buildings? I am trying to be creative and willing to think outside
the box.

Thanks

Paper buildings will work well at this scale - especially for boxy structures like tower blocks.

+1 and supplemented with lead/platic street furniture (newstands, cars, plant boxes, etc).

Fred,

What do you mean by paper buildings?
Plus, where would I get them?

Thanks

There are loads available to download and print. You can also buy pre-printed ones.

At this scale it's pretty easy to make your own - draw the basic box shape in a drawing program then use textures from the internet to cover the walls. You can do this digitally or physically

Maybe there is a market for a bargain bucket of MDF buildings at this scale. You could probably get ten reasonably sized buildings on an A4 sized sheet and a download/buy printed overlay.

There's also the Hawk Wargames ones (10mm sci-fi, but really look modern and I guess could work for 6mm):

There are the old Space Marine (etc) buildings, if not the buildings, the tops can be used with your own walls.

Gamecraft make a range of buildings in MDF and acrylic which are good for moderns and well priced.

Also a couple of mdf manufacturers

Or you could decorate some basic shapes with plasticard strips, cross stitch mesh and other bits. I made these scifi buildings from household stuff (although they are scifi you get the idea)
