Operation Sea Lion - Brandenburger Coastal Raid
« on: July 07, 2017, 12:39:34 PM »

Last night Doug and I had a great game of Combat Patrol. The scenario was Brandenburger  Coastal Raid, the first scenario in the Bolt Action Campaign Sea Lion book. This scenario sees a small raiding party of Brandenburg commandos landing by Sturmboat on a section of the South East coast with the aim of destroying a British HQ in preparation for the main Operation Sea Lion landings.

The target of the German raid was 'The George and Dragon', once a prosperous seaside pub, now the headquarters of the local Home Guard platoon.

It was a hard fought battle, narrowly won by the plucky Brits.

The Sturmboats are an excellent free design from Thingiverse. They are designed as a 12' boat, I just increased the dimension to 18' / 6 metres and printed away. They are great little models, at that size you can even get 6 passengers to stand up (with over lapping bases).

We are having a re-run tonight but with a 'proper' German rifle platoon attacking, so hopefully will have another set of photos for latter in the week.

We replayed the coastal raid scenario, this time landing a regular infantry platoon rather than Brandenburg commandos.

It was another great Op Sea Lion game. We had great fun on Monday, although their always seems to be a lot of sea and beach to cross before reaching that first bit of cover!

That is an excellent battle report, Chris.  Thanks for sharing.

<shameless plug>For those of you who have the Band of Brothers Bolt Action 2 starter set, there is a free set of unit cards you can download to use with Combat Patrol.  With those cards and the July sale on Combat Patrol, this is a good time to give the rules a try.</shameless plug>
