Excerpt from Esoteric Pilgrimage Destinations of the Gothic Sector, Volume 7, by Adept Matthias Laetorius.

"On the Eve of the Feast Day of Saint Christophorus, each precinct enacts the symbolic ritual of the ‘Gretch Who Stole Christophorus’. Sacred relics of Christophorus are taken from their shrines and given over to the costumed actor portraying the "Gretch". The actor portraying the Gretch makes a traditional display of the stolen relics, and leaves to find a hiding place. After thirty-nine and one half minutes pass, the precinct Ecclesiarch makes a show of investigating the reliquary, loudly declaring “Saint Christophorus's Day is ruined”. The eager children then race off to recover the 'stolen' relics."

"The children roam their district hunting for the hidden Gretch and his cache. Upon finding the nefarious character, they drive it away from the relics in a ferocious mock battle. The children are awarded special confections and printed tracts detailing the lives of Imperial Saints for their enthusiasm in recovering the relics. Although some claim that the Gretch tradition hails from ancient Terra, I have found through rigorous research that many millennia ago Ophatran Secundus was on the periphery of a large Orkish invasion, and it is my belief that the Gretch lives on as a cultural memory from that trying time.”

"The twelfth day, as one might expect, is the culmination of the Festival of Saint Christophorus. The relics, having been returned to the reliquaries, indicate that all is well and that the safety of the Imperium is restored. All that remains is to burn an effigy of the Gretch (a symbol for all hostile xenoforms) before an image of Saint Christophorus. This occurs in nearly every precinct, even outside the capitol city, and is quite a celebration. Relics and religious trappings may be sold again, and the rare pilgrim that has any money left sets out on the next stage of their journey through the Gothic Sector.”

Snowwhite? She’s part of the aristocracy?! Wonderful. But what happened to the seven squats and the glass sarcophagus?

Maybe that tale should be the subject of a new story

This has been a superb pageant! I've really enjoyed the scenes, and had fun spotting all sorts of interesting figures and scatter terrain.

That's amazing. The nut cracker bookburner though, clearly the work of a non-Euclidian mind.

Just amazing <3

I came here for a bit of inspiration during the St. Christophorus festivities on my own home planet... and I've been duly inspired. A little bit daunted too, to be honest.

Thank you all for the comments, the Christophorus narrative was a weird compulsion that I felt had to happen. Glad it was well received!

That's amazing. The nut cracker bookburner though, clearly the work of a non-Euclidian mind.

Highest of praise!

At any rate, there is no rest for the wicked, and I had a few things I wanted to knock out before the New Year rolled over.

Over the summer I had acquired a number of rare miniatures, some I had been after for the better part of a decade, and wanted to get them painted up. These included an unreleased Frateris Militia and a Sister Famulous. Along with the Frateris mini I painted all of his mates and a 3D printed 'Commander Z' from Reptilian Overlords. I digitally modified him to carry an autogun, and scaled his head up 10% to match the bobble-head proportions of his militia friends.

The Sister Famulous fits in great with her non-militant sisters from the Orders Dialogus and Hospitaller.

Outstanding work, on the Famulous in particular! Such a lovely sculpt (and very sad to see a certain ebayer recasting it at the moment). You've brought her "I've seen it all before, and I am unamused" expression to life so well.

The non-frateris Frateris fits in perfectly, and really brings the unit together. There is so much great inspiration in this thread! I hope it brings you as much joy as it brings the rest of us.

The militia leader with the flag has an uncanny resemblance to the president of a certain nation under attack, but maybe that's just me  ;)

The new sister indeed fits in perfectly, perhaps as some sort of sister superior.

And the statue of st. Christopher is another awesome mash-up I gather?  8)
