That Sister is excellent: such a characterful sculpt, and it really shines with your paintjob.

Such a lovely sculpt (and very sad to see a certain ebayer recasting it at the moment).

Yeah, I saw one pop up recently on eBay (and it went for a pittance). I assumed that one was a recast for sure. How do the recasters get a hold of so many rares?

The militia leader with the flag has an uncanny resemblance to the president of a certain nation under attack, but maybe that's just me  ;)

And the statue of st. Christopher is another awesome mash-up I gather?  8)

Not just you! He's a free download from Reptilian Overlords with a free-will donation. I think they did a great job with the likeness.

St. Christophorus is a digital mashup of a Vae Victus king, a bolter, a new Santa hat, and a servo-skull icon.
a mixture of quick parts, sarcastic humour, reserve, and caprice.

Brillant work on that sister!

Don’t want to derail your fine thread, but sometimes I also wonder about recasters. Long time ago there was a guy at the bay who had everything from WEG Star Wars, which normally is pretty rare and goes for insane prices. I assumed you pay those prices and make good profit by selling dozens of cheaper recasts.

Lovely work  :-*

Are you sure the statue of St. Christophorus with the missile launcher isn't actually St Javelin?

Sorry, not to derail the thread but to attempt to answer your question - in my experience they buy them from the collectors. I've managed to collect well over 100 unreleased minis in a 20 year period, and sometimes I sell a couple on ebay when I decide to trim the collection down. I've had some VERY aggressive potential buyers on the rare occasions I've sold stuff you don't usually see (e.g. the Diaz unreleased Kasrkin), and it can be hard to block them. I can think of one or two ebayers who've brought stuff from me, and then some time later are repeatedly selling mediocre painted versions of the same mini. It is very depressing.

But threads like this one should be the very opposite of depressing! So I apologise for bringing it up and now I'll shut up about depressing stuff and just say: this thread is SO inspiring, and the minute my offspring can be trusted not to interfere (she's currently 4 yrs old) I plan to dedicate more time than I should to making story-filled dioramas inspired by your excellent work.

No need to apologize whatsoever! I appreciate you bringing up the topic. Several years back I acquired a bunch of Foundry Azande that were recasts, I had no idea that was even happening at the time. I couldn't in good conscience sell them on, and didn't want to toss them out, so I donated them to someone painting them for sending to gamers serving overseas.

Having good contacts in the gaming world is probably essential in making sure you are getting the 'real deal'. I'm a bit isolated in that respect although I have acquired some very cool things over the years :)
I probably annoy some 'collectors' because I tend to paint the rares I get!

Lovely work  :-*

I have quite a few statues now! Saint Javelin is definitely a female, she's holding the RT era missle launcher. Christophorus has the RT boltgun ;)

More fantastic work as ever, I love the colours/tones you've used on the militia, and the look of them as a cohesive uniformed force really works.  As also noted by others, that sister's facial expression is brilliant; she is most definitely not amused.

May you long continue to annoy them. I personally can't stand the types that keep things wrapped in celaphane, and litter the collectors groups with photos of there unopened, unspoilt treasures.
Arrrghhhhh, paint the damn things and get them on a table!

Great work in this thread. You've done more cool stuff for the Wargames Atlantic box art, congrats.

I so agree with you. They are TOYS(n. something designed to be played with...) :)

Woha...

it took some time to read through the 54 pages but it definitely worth the time. The painting, the sceneries, the story it is just amazing. I really like your explnations of where is the model from and if you modify 3D files.

Thank you for this journey is the dark 41st century !

Why some indie magazine (physical or digital) hasn't done a feature on your work is beyond me. It's such a joy to look at, and it reminds me of the potential of this toy soldier hobby of ours.
