Recently painted some oldhammer style squats to join in with my mining survey team (completed over a year ago when I was doing the Adventurers range).
A mix of Black Tree, Kromlech medic, GW, and a Satyr Arts powerboarder.

a mixture of quick parts, sarcastic humour, reserve, and caprice.

They fit superbly together even though they're from different manufacturers, and the colours suit them to a t. Those checks on the chainsword are splendid.
Also - mole mortars!  :-*
Industrial yellow works well on them.

They are excellent.  :-*

I'd always glossed over the BTD squats because of the rubbish pictures on the website, but seeing them done properly makes me want some!
Did someone more reliable take them on when BTD binned all their sci-fi stuff?

Checks on a chainsword!
Madness, I tell ya...
 :o :o

I did not know Black Tree did Squats.
If they are the ones with the forage caps, they are lovely.

They are, and they don't.... see my post above. They shed all the scifi lines a few years ago when they went international and I've no idea who, if anyone, picked them up.

Thanks all, this has been another fun little offshoot project.

I really don't know about that. I picked these up on eBay several years ago- I originally thought they were Heartbreaker or some other 3rd party group emulating the look.

That is a great collection of Squats and wonderfully painted too.

Also got to say the terrain looks amazing.

The Blacktree Squats were only three packs as far as i know.I have two of them. The little sci-fi Halflings they did were cool too.

It's the paintjobs that make it work. Great to see them.

Fantastic little warband of Squats :) . It's a classic case of bringing a selection of different ranges together with a quality paint job. I love it :) .

Re: Dr Mathias's Warhammer 40K Thread - Black Crab Relic Hunters

A few additions to the relic hunter/mendicant procession. Meridian Miniatures/Black Crab and one from Wilhlem Miniatures with a new face from Statuesque.

Excerpt from Esoteric Pilgrimage Destinations of the Gothic Sector, Volume 1, by Adept Matthias Laetorius.

"On occasion, in the more scared pilgrimage destinations, one may encounter high ranking adepts that have abandoned their important stations for the life of a pious mendicant. Sanctioned with a special indulgence by the Adeptus Ministorum, taking such a vow releases them from their former positions and allows them to serve the Emperor in new ways. Naturally this causes the Administratum a certain degree of consternation, and it is said that many a bloodline engineered by the Orders Famulous has been unexpectedly disrupted by noble pilgrims abandoning their duties due to sudden bursts of fervor and spiritual visions.”

I don't usually haunt this topic, but I have to say, this is an absolutely fantastic thread and the brushwork is absolutely brilliant!

Superb - I just can't decide which is my favourite of this little and supremely weird lot - probably the fellow buried under a mountain of prayer tags.  8)
