Last weekend I checked the rules and I must say they surprised me, in a positive way, as good, straightforward quickplay rules for introductory games or a swift hour fun. I like his approach.

He starts with an observation which is very true(...)

The bloke who says he can't imagine using the rules for large battles obviously hasn't tried it. We've fought Napoleonic's with over twenty battalions a side, using the rules straight from the can... and had a brilliant, tense and enjoyable game, I'm a big fan of the Thomas rules.
