Nice review. I bought a set of these at Salute. I already have all my colonials covered with BTD and Redoubt in metal, (and I like larger figures anyway) so these were superfluous to my needs but I bought them for spare parts. The heads are quite large and useful for upgrading some tired older ranges of figures, for example the BTD, who have rather funny helmets, or the Queen and Country figures, which have underscale heads.  I have already used some of the arms and a set of legs on some WW2 figures.
I agree that these are far better than the Warlord and Wargames factory plastic offerings.
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

figures painted: 57
9 vehicles painted
4 terrain pieces scratchbuilt

Excellent review of some stunning figures ....a few more for the collection couldn't hurt could they?

Thanks for the nice comments and glad you all found the review helpful. Although I have plenty of Warlord Games British, I will be most certainly be buying some boxes to field as the green dressed rifles and light marine infantry backed with a pair of lethal gatling guns. Then it's only waiting for the release of the plastic zulu to expand their opponent army.

These are great looking figures, also glad to see that you've reviewed another platic set.   :)
When (or who?) would they have used the glengarry hats as opposed to a pith helmet?

Glengarry was the fatigue cap. They would have worn them in camp or any time when not wearing the helmet. Probably many were wearing them when surprised in camp at Isandlwana.

Thanks, That would also been my answer, although I very much like mine with their iconic pith helmets  ;)

Thanks for the review. I have plenty of BT British plus some Empress. I was about to order the dismounted Lancers to go with my Empress mounted versions so will add a box of these to the order to paint as Riflemen. Oh and that Heliograph will be useful as well as I don't have one yet.

Thanks, sounds like a plan. Just finished painting the Heliograph team for The Army Painter contest here on LAF.
