RIP George A. Romero
« on: July 22, 2017, 03:43:50 PM »
Almost a week ago, on Sunday 17th July 2017, legendary zombie film maker, George A. Romero died. I'm surprised there has been no mention of his passing here. Without George, the whole zombie apocalypse craze would probably have never happened. We zombie fans owe a huge debt of gratitude to him. It was solely down to watching Dawn of the Dead when it was first released at the cinema that I became interested in the zombie apocalypse genre and I've been a fan ever since.

George, I salute you. Much respect, sir!

I was surprised not to see more on this.

We're it not for catching a late night showing of Dawn of the Dead on the telly as a little kid, I would never have liked zombies 'before they were cool' and consequently would have far, far less painted miniatures.

Romero's films were innovative and ahead of their time. It's been a while since I painted some Z's but I will make sure to finally finish my TWD set in his honour!

I think nobody said anything because we all were waiting to see if he'd come back.

Yep, was surprised that there was no mention here or TMP about it.

As well as the other fine chap that passed that day as well Martin Landau.
And John Heard just back on the 19th.
