Where can I buy a pin vice for 5mm bits please?
« on: August 12, 2017, 08:27:01 PM »
Looking for a pin vice that can hold 5mm drill bits, can anyone help please?  Only one I've found online appears to have been discontinued!

Many thanks.

Is masochism a pin vice?
The laws of probability do not apply to my dice in wargames or to my finesses in bridge.

Yah, at 5mm you're looking for a cordless drill rather than a pin vise.
History viewed from the inside is always a dark, digestive mess, far different from the easily recognizable cow viewed from afar by historians.

I use this for 4.5-6.5mm drill bits.

Whilst I dare say a cordless would be fine, I only need to drill wide shallow holes for 6mm x 2mm magnets in bases; a cordless drill is just too much for this sort of task, and the pin vice offers much more control.

I would say though, bigger hands are a benefit for the one I linked to, as it's pretty chunky!

Nice one Major!!

I have hands like shovels so should be fine!

Order placed.

I want to magnetise the arms, wings etc on GW plastic miniatures. The magnets I aim to use will be 5mm by 1mm deep and 4mm by 1mm deep.

Many thanks for the help and advice.

Some of the "hobby drill" options might be able to use bits of that size. Look around the dollhouse sections of the larger hobby stores (Hobby Lobby, Michaels, ect...) and they aren't that expensive there.
