Star Wars RPG by West End Games - a directors cut!
« on: August 16, 2017, 08:46:31 PM »
Probably one of the best RPG's, and easily one of most influential is making a comeback to mark the 30th anniversary thanks to Fantasy Flight

This is perhaps because I was in high school but I remember the game being quite a train-wreck of a role playing game.  Was it actually any good?  I mean, it's still damn cool (and I'll probably buy a copy).

Was bucket-o-dice, right?

Never played, but enjoyed reading.

Oh, I do remember it, and I remember our group was quite ambiguous about it.

The book was shiny...and it was Star Wars, but then it had buckets, no really bath tubs full of D6, but then it was Star Wars, but then there was so much missing and left unexplained in the rulebook, but then it was Star Wars, but again, the rules were nice and cinematic, but also terribly random and left us often disappointed, but then it was Star Wars...

...so actually for nostalgia's sake, I might get this one...because, well it's Star Wars  lol lol lol

It also (that old rpg) begat the rise of the EU novels.

There was a Gencon 2017 Panel about the game, with Pablo Hidalgo (and two other influential guys) about it.

I've enjoyed the background stuff from the game more than the actual mechanics.

Personally, I liked the WotC era stuff a lot more than the WEG and FFG rules with the exception of X-Wing being far superior to the space combat game that WotC created.

I still play Saga Edition when I can with a few modifications such as shifting the way companions work in it.

:o :o :oLovely memories playing this game :'(, many weekends at night...chips, sodas.... rolling the dices, laughing a lot  ....our DM Gallardo, start using the WEG miniatures during the games to represent the battles!! Last year in Christmas I play a game with my two brothers ...

For sure I will buy this one also!!!
