USMC AAV7's
« on: August 17, 2017, 02:07:05 PM »
General, you may begin your landing.

Here are my 1/48 scale AAV-7's.  These are the excellent resin casts from Empress Miniatures. I added the stowage racks and cargo, but other than that they are pretty much right out of the box. I decided to do one of each in the camo schemes used by the USMC to make them easy to keep track of on the game table. I may do a third in the near future with the add on armor kit being done in factory new green over a worn NATO camo scheme. The bolt on armor degrades due to salt exposure and gets replaced more often than the vehicle gets repainted.

Proud member of that peculiar subspecies of humanity known as U.S. Marines.

Certainly one of the strangest-looking vehicles on the modern battlefield. I had one of those long ago, they are cool models and your stowage and antennas look great.

Beautifully done. Always fancied doing one in NATO camo with sand coloured add-on armour as seen during the second Gulf war.

Looks like it should be operated by diminutive figures with glowing eyes wearing hooded robes...

I'm sure there is a joke about Marines to make here...

Thanks!
Trying to follow the NATO paint template for that vehicle with all of the angles from the add on armor kit is a real pain.
I actually bought enough of the Black Dog stowage sets to cover the sides with crew/occupant gear, but decided not to after finally getting the pattern to look right.
