That sounds like a good plan Richard. I like the idea of the land-owner troops as well. It fits right in with the theory that these land owners evolved into feudal lords over time.

Here are some of the Domain of Soissons Comanipulares. I know that the shields are for Legio V Macedonica, but I liked the look. After painting them up, they look a little 'merica, but I though that the blue cloaks give them a wealthy look along with the bleached tunics and red hems. I'm pretty pleased with these guys and will have to paint a few more up soon. Next up will be more Franks.

I've finished the next batch of Franks, three Warriors from Newline with Footsore shields and four Footsore Goths and Saxons to use for Levy. Only 16 total Franks left now!

In other news, I should have the second draft of my Dux Brit campaign supplement finished in the next week or so. As of now there are fully fleshed out forces for the Gallo-Romans, Franks, and Visigoths. I'm mulling over the idea of adding Bacaudae, Alemanni, Burgundians, and Armoricans. I'm also thinking about incorporating the Saxons raiding from the channel, as I've recently learned that they likely shifted focus to Britain only after the Franks overran Soissons. If anyone is interested and you have not already asked me for a copy, shoot me a PM.

Let me know what you guys think!

Thanks! They are, in my opinion, the best Dark Age minis out there. If I could get Bill to do some actual Franks, I would be over the moon. I'm very pleased with the progress I've made so far on the sculpting front, but I'm definitely no Bill Thornhill.

My Gallo Romans starting force is now complete! Other than the eventual cavalry models that I'll be adding to the force and future reinforcements, I'm done! These are the four characters for the force, three true Romans and a loyal Frankish champion.

Hi all, if you didn't already know, I have a blog for my wargaming. It's been dead for over a year, but I figured that since I'm full steam ahead again in the hobby, especially with this project, I would revive it. Currently, I'm working on posting subjects regarding my campaign supplement and other Dux Britinniarum projects. I'm trying to hold myself to at least one post a week, which will either be hobby work or rules centered. I've posted about my return to the hobby and also the introduction to the supplement itself.

Stop on by if you'd like to follow the progress of the supplement!

Pretty basic post today. The campaign overview is on the blog. Just a basic run down of the events leading up to the campaign, largely based on the writings of Gregory of Tours' "History of the Franks"

The additional campaign rules for the Franks in my Dux Brit expansion are now posted in the blog. I hope that these, in addition to the last blog post, will show the depth that is being added to the campaign system, without adding much in the way of complexity.

A fine paintjob! Very realistic!
