All Units Engage - Cold War to Near Future and Beyond!
« on: August 29, 2017, 03:16:44 AM »
Peabody, What's This?

All Units Engage is a set of simple rules for skirmish games for two or more players. Play can be based around a handful of minis or include multiple squads and even vehicles. The game plays equally well with 15mm or 28mm miniatures.

A solid “old school” game with a modern perspective, All Units Engage flows very well from turn-to-turn and player to player. Games are intended to be short, with an emphasis on achieving objectives inside of a brief span of turns.

The focus is on sci-fi, near-future and post-apocalyptic gaming, but the mechanics are flexible enough to support a wider variety of settings such as Cold War and even WWII.

"AUE" is a toolkit that invites you to play with the minis and models you already own. The mechanics of are based on D10's. No templates are required and only a few basic markers are needed to track pins and reserve actions.

Readers and Playtesters Wanted!

All Units Engage is ready for another round of reading and playtesting. The game is so close to it's final form we believe we are very close to publication. (Insert comic illustration about hubris here)

At just just over 90 pages AUE is compact, but still a full-featured game. It boasts two army builders, ready to play unit lists and over two dozen missions allowing you to play games in the world or setting that most inspires you.

The core mechanics are only 27 pages – three of those are pages of examples, reinforcing essential concepts. Two quick-play scenarios introduce the basics of the game, one for infantry mechanics and another for vehicles and aircraft.

AUE offers frameworks for balanced (symmetrical) and unbalanced (asymmetrical) engagements as well as campaign play. These are ready to play with your favourite setting. Heck, you can even use them with another set of rules!

It's not Rocket Science

All Units Engage is a game for casual fun with friends. We hope you can have fun while helping us poke holes in the rules, find the edge cases that are yet to be found and add another page or two to our FAQ.

If you would like to join in the fun, fire off a PM and we will set you up with everything you need to play.

Thank you Predatorpt!

Many thanks to folks for showing interest in this wee project! PM's outbound.
There is still room for a couple more playtesters so if you are tempted, we would be happy to have you along for the ride.

Here's a couple of sample pages from the current draft to give you a peek at Initiative as well as some examples of Ranged Attacks.

Daveb over at Miniature Insurrection posted up an All Units Engage AAR that gives good perspective on unit profiles and how the game plays.
