I was going to say SPECTRE for the resolution mechanics and gear, PLUS the Black Ops' STEALTH RULES and SCENARIOS that are easily transported to ANY game system!  :) (and the perfect excuse to build SIX different and gorgeous game tables with lots of scenery!  :D)

Please let us know about your progresses in the "Modern" field!  ;)

I will! Especially as I already own Black Ops and SPECTRE is on its way!

My own set, Wars of Insurgency, is completed and I've ordered the proof from the printer to make sure there are no mistakes. I expect to receive it this coming week. Once I've looked over it, I will announce its official release.

In Insurgency, players control 3-5 squads of a size from 3-12 miniatures, or one to several vehicles. It is man-to-man skirmish, with each figure being one soldier. I ran it four times at Historicon in July, and the players all seemed to enjoy it. Check out some pics here on my blog:

Feel free to ask any questions about how it plays or its design...

We use Buck Surdu's excellent Combat Patrol rules for modern gaming. These are very innovative, all of the complexity of data look ups, charts, probabilities are built into the action deck, that is used for small arms, he, a/t, melee, morale resolution. Core rules are WW2 based, with a stack of free to download supplements for gaming in the modern era. Check out our recent write up of our Wild Geese game on this forum, or take a look here for details of rules: http://wargamesbuildings.co.uk/epages/950003459.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/950003459/Categories/Combat_Patrol

My problem as a 15mm gamer is, that a lot of rule sets in the modern era are to detailed. I need markers for lying, kneeing diffrent wound status and so on.
This is ok on an 28mmm table/figues but in 15mm...

I loved the old Ambush Alley rules, they were a little bit abstract sometimes, but I had all the modern stuff/hardware rules like drones for example.
And it was easy to get new people into it on conventions for example.

Well, Wars of Insurgency does not require that. Your one fig will do just fine. I play in 20mm, but it will work for any scale.
